At Kingsteignton School, our PE curriculum has been tailored to enhance every child’s key skill through the ‘heads, hands and hearts’ approach. Here, we are fortunate to have weekly sessions led by a trained coach from Achieve4all. It is our aim to inspire and embed a love for physical and mental health well-being through a range of sporting activities. Here at Kingsteignton school, we believe this is achieved through high quality activities that promote a holistic health that are regularly celebrated in our weekly ‘celebration assembly’. Not only do we celebrate sporting achievements made within school, we strive to celebrate sporting achievements made outside of school and encourage our children to share their success.

Throughout the year, our children are involved in additional sporting events including cricket taster days, rounders, tennis and swimming, as well as taking part in sport festivals at Teign school. When children are given the opportunity to participate in festivals, we believe we are encouraging and scaffolding their confidence and resilience which are skills needed in all areas of our curriculum.

We encourage supportive and positive sportsmanship through our school values including, justice, perseverance and compassion, ensuring children are able to accept defeat and celebrate other’s success. From Reception to Year 6, physical education is interwoven throughout all daily activities, from fine motor skills to our daily mile. We hope our children become rounded, determined individuals.

Outside of the school day, children across all age groups are also encouraged to take part in sports clubs. Depending on the season, these can include athletics, football, multi-sports etc.
